Selah's 2 months old!

This week Selah had her two month check up. She was adored by all...the nurses and doctor just gushed over her, and Sweet girl just played the part smiling and smiling. Selah got a perfect bill of health, the doctor said everything was great and whatever we were doing at home keep it up!
Stats:
11 lbs, 11 ounces (75%) 24 inches long (75%)

Here's Some stuff about Selah:
  • She is eating so well. I am so so so happy that she nursing so well, and that she and I are enjoying it.
  • She has great neck control, and the doctor laughed saying she looked like a 4 month old when she laid her on her belly and Selah lifted her head.
  • She is smiling all the time, and often squels or slightly giggles when being talked to. She smiles the most for her daddy and her big brother.
  • She still loves to be cuddled and held-it's her favorite.
  • She sits in her bumbo and does pretty well in it for about 5-10 minutes, then she starts to slump over.
  • She nurses for about 5-10 minutes on each side. Most days every three hours and sometimes can stretch it out til 4 hours (but not often). She will take a bottle, but drinks it super slow, we don't do bottles much. Although, I do try at least 2 times a week, just so it stays familiar.
  • She pretty much averages 5-6 hour stretches of sleep at night, usually from 10pm-3:30am. But, a few times this past week when I go to check on her when I hear her making noises at 3am she is generally still sleeping and if I give her, her paci she will stay asleep til 5-5:30am! YAY Baby!!
  • She flipped from her tummy to her back twice the other day, but has not done it since.
  •  She got her two month shots and cried just until I could pick her up, which I did just as soon as I could. She knows her mama, and it feels incredible knowing that God gave me the ability to soothe my kids.
  • Have I mentioned she is SUPER SUPER sweet?!?!

Showers

Owen is way into taking showers these days. Sometimes he prefers to take a shower over a bath...what?!? Who is this big kid? He will stand there forever and just let the warm water hit his head, and has been known to throw a fit a time or two when it's time to get out! Ummmm, not even a teenager and we are having to fight him out of the shower!

New Family Challenge

Joe and I have come up with a new family challenge. We are going through this book, Memorize This, a book that helps you go through certain verses of the Bible, with purpose. It helps you memorize these verses and also provides questions about the verses you are memorizing to help with the process. We have just started it this week and already it's been so good for us!  Our hope is to go through the book each night at dinner time, we would like to go through the questions and let it spawn conversation from there! I thought it would be a good idea to write out this weeks verse on our bathrooms mirrors. We spend a lot of time in there-bathing, brushing teeth, helping Owen go potty....A great time to learn the verse. We are helping Owen learn it too. The first section of the book is all about the assurance of Gods love for us. Such a comfort and so humbling that He loves us so.

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help
-Psalm 86:5

Best of Friends

Oh, how my sweet dear husband has created a very bad habit (in my opinion!) As I have mentioned a month or so ago, Charlie started sleeping in Owen's room when Selah was born. Owen has loved it. It has become a blessing and a curse. Charlie comforts Owen, he loves his dog more than anything. I am very thankful the feeling the feeling is mutual. Charlie is the very best dog for Owen and is extremely patient with my son. Every night Charlie HAS to go to bed with Owen, much to his dismay. But, he goes and serves his boy with joy.

Well, a few nights ago Joe thought it was a good idea for Charlie to sleep at the foot of Owen's bed. I DID NOT AGREE, and I lost. Owen thought it was cool, Charlie thought it was comfy and Joe thought it was no big deal. Now, not only does Charlie need to go to bed when Owen goes to bed, but now Owen insists he sleep with him. After seeing all the dog hair on Owen's quilt after a few days, my husband now agrees it was not the best idea he has ever had! So, now we need to break Owen of this, and it's not fun...because when we try Charlie still magically finds his way to Owen's bed. And, if I had to guess it's not the dog who is disobeying...

Not the best picture when I am trying to be sneaky and can't zoom in as far in as I'd like!

A visit from the Topps family

We were excited and blessed to spend time with my sister and her family. Actually, my brother Mike came too, just on a different day...BONUS! Owen was beyond excited to see his big boy cousins. He has been in love with Kyle and Jake since he met them, when he was three months old. They have always been so good to him and I so appreciate that. They both play with him and love him so sweetly and it melts my heart to know that he loves his cousins that much. He often calls them "JakeKyle" when talking about them, never really separates the two names. =) He was just as excited to see his Auntie Kim and Uncle Joel-both spoil him rotten and he knows it too! =) He knew Kailyn was coming, but because they have not spent much time together he didn't know what to think about her coming...They got along well toward the end of the week, but there was a lot of refereeing going on and competition with toys etc. One cute memory of Owen and Kailyn was them holding hands and singing in the car on the way home from the aquarium...SO CUTE! I love knowing just how much these people love both my kids and how even though we are miles apart, Owen knows he is loved by them and he always remembers the fun things they do together. There were times when we would be driving and Owen would be in our car and Joe and I would hear "but I NEED my cousins!!!!"

Owen loved spending time with his Uncle Mike too. One night I went to go check on Owen after everyone was sleeping and he was not in his bed...kinda freaked me out! I opened Selah's door (that's where Mike slept) to ask Mike if he had seen him and sure enough I see Owen all cozied up in Uncle Mikes bed, while my brother read. How sweet is that!?!? I just left him there, and O thought it was cool that he slept with Uncle Mike!

Selah loved both The Topps family and Mike too. She especially loved her Auntie though. She would smile so big for her and coo and kinda giggle too. So much fun! Everyone loved cuddling her and she LOVED to be cuddled too. She would get passed around like a football, and did not care. She relished in being held, and I did too. It's fun to watch your little sister and brother dote on your kids...

It was a full house that was loud and chaotic. But, it was so fun and we did a lot of fun things. I know Kyle and Jake had a ton of fun exploring Georgia. In fact I know Joel liked that too...actually all the California people liked it!!  It was a good visit and I am so honored they chose to spend their vacations with us!! It was great getting to know Joel better-this was the most time Joe and I have spent with him. He is a great guy, and I am so glad he married my sister. Joe and him were really cute together and they both have a little boy's adventurous spirit in them and it was fun to sit back and watch them together. I loved spending time with Kailyn too. She is feisty, sassy and sweet all at the same time! YAY for time with the family!
All the cousins!!

Auntie Kim and Selah!!

Love this picture of Kim and Kailyn...aren't they so cute?!

First smiles

Selah has smiled and even giggled in her sleep since she was born. I know those smiles and giggles were not on purpose, but Joe and I like to think she is dreaming and talking with Jesus =) She started smiling, like big huge gummy smiles when we talk to her at 5 weeks. She has the most beautiful gummy smile ever! Here are a few early smiling pictures:
